I love that art making has a beginning, middle and end. Being a part of the ancient ritual of using tools to make marks is deeply satisfying. I employ different methods and enjoy experimentation. Occasionally an image comes forth with relative ease and simplicity; such is the aim of my calligraphic watercolors. Image construction really appeals to me especially assemblage and collage, piecing remnants and found objects; and, encaustic, layering and tempering wax with heat and manipulation. I aim to create a visual world in which the process is a source of contemplation that provokes new distinctions about being artfully alive.
